I just ended this very busy work week with a blow out. On the relatively spur of the moment, Tone and I, my bro and his girlfriend went to Dad and Beth's for food, drinks and cards. I love card night in my parents' and we honestly haven't done it for ages, definitely not since we returned home from travelling. It's alays good fun, we often get drunk and there are always stories that we reminisce about for years after. We definitely laughed tonight, even after we left- in the taxi (poor driver!) and over the phone when home (poor neighbours!). I must confess that it had been so long since I'd been to my parents' for a card night that I'd forgotten just how much fun it is wen we all get together.
Now, I'm feeling ever so slightly drunk and I know I'm going to feel a bit crappy tomorrow. I have to work at 10am and I have five days in on the trot, excluding the three days I've just worked. Eight days in a row is pretty crap but it gives me the weekend off for the wedding next weekend.
I have so much to do this week, as well as work. I'm going to be so glad when Thursday night comes around and I don't have to (and cannot) do anything but chill out. My week ahead looks like this:
Sunday: work 10-5, eyebrow tint 530
Monday: work 830-6, haircut 630, hair dye 730
Tuesday: work 9-630
Wednesday: work 8-6, dinner with girls
Thursday: work 9-430, fake tan 520
Friday: Tony haircut, bank, meet girls for afternoon, manicure, sort out for wedding
Saturday: Hairdressers 7am, breakfast 9am, wedding!
It's all looking a bit hectic. But I'm sure I'll survive. The forthcoming craziness is makingme very sleepy now though... *yawn
'Night all.
After finding out I had lost more weight earlier in the week, I lapsed a little. It was a treat for doing so well. Then, being as it's the end of the month and money is tight, I didn't go food shopping this week. I figured we could survive on what was in the freezer and cupboards. Survive- yes. Lose weight- no. Work is way too busy to eat properly. I'm too disorganised. I don't have any healthy snacks readily available. And...worst of all...I ate white bread! Twice!!! I'm kicking myself now because what I had lost will go back on by Monday's weigh in. Plus, I have a night out on the town tomorrow which means alcohol which means calories. All this leads to a not so happy Chelle. Payday is Tuesday and I shall be doing a huge health food shop. I'm so determined not to ruin all the hard work I've put in so far. Grrrrrrr..... :-S
Tomorrow, I'm off to London for the weekend to celebrate my best buddy's hen party. The train leaves tomorrow morning at 1030am. That's 9 1/5 hours away. I'm not ready to go and I'm not ready to sleep. (I'm probably a little excited, like a child the night before her birthday).
Anyways, in the last two hours, I have managed to:
- buy necessities for the weekend ahead
- buy food for Tony for the weekend
- iron my weekend clothes
- iron Tony's work clothes
- make a list of everything I need to take
- epilate
- tidy the last few bits of the house that need it
- paint my nails
- find an overnight bag
- pack said overnight bag
- buy holdups
- take cash out of the bank
Saturday night's alcoholic exersions are catching up with me. Big time. My feet are still sore from those deadly shoes I wore. My kidneys are screaming out in pain. My tummy is all weird. And my back aches from too much sleep over the past few days. Urgh.
I've scraped myself out of bed and forced breakfast down. Even managed to get some washing in the machine and more out on the line. I have a list of things I need to do today in preparation for the busy week ahead. First, I think I need to get my trainers on and go for a power-walk down the beach. It might kick-start my body in to work-mode. Or alternatively, make me throw up. We shall see.
Today was Day Two of our store set up. During the day, I have been, at various times:
- A carpenter
- An electrician
- A supervisor
- An interior designer
- A tea-lady
- A cleaner
- An administrator
Needless to say, it's been a busy day.
In return, I came home to a hot bath already drawn for me, a cup of tea made for me, dinner cooking and instructions to sit on the sofa with my laptop, to watch a plethora of my favourite shows. I could get used to this ;)
I am awful at updating my blog recently.
I have as simple an excuse as...there are not enough hours in the day.
By the time, I think of blogging, I am too tired to be at all imaginative or, in some instances, at all coherent.
More hours would be good here. Just to get me through the marking process. Pretty please.
Last week, Mum was away and my week was governed by baby sisters (well, not-so-baby sisters, but always babies to me!), governed in a good way, but the wek was busy and had much different focus to what my life is normally like.
On Tuesday, I went to for a consultation for LASER EYE SURGERY. I've worn glasses since the age of twelve. Since the age of perhaps twenty, I've been considering the benefits of corrective surgery but have never been able to spare the money or have simply had fears about the pain, problems, the thought of surgery itself. This week, I finally went through with the consultatio and am so ready to do it, that it's unbelievable. I've left all my nerves behind (for now!) and am really REALLY excited about having it done...on May 15th, btw.
Yesterday, we went to a gig in Cardiff. Now's the time to comment on the fact that we have driven over 200 miles in two days, nothing in comparison to our trip across the States last year, but a lot for us right now. Matchbox Twenty have been quiet faves of ours for a few years but have definitely risen to new heights in my iTunes playlist. Rob Thomas is certainly a charismatic lead singer and the guitarists were pretty awesome too. We had a great night but I was shattered after the excitement of the past few days and only just managed to stay awake for the ride home.
There's plenty more to come though, in the next few weeks.
545am: Alarm goes off, but I'm kinda already awake.
547am: Get up, shower, etc.
6am: Dress, undergo 'hair management' and slap on some war paint.
615am: Leave house for work.
625am: Enter nice, quiet clean shop and start the day.
7am: Organised, running store as managers go off to Bristol for an all expenses paid week of meetings 70 miles away, leaving me and another supervisor to hold down the fort.
9am: Other supervisor phones in sick... not good.
905am: Calm phonecall to mentor...Help please....
10-12: Inwardly frantic yet outwardly serene phonecalls to various stores and staff to arrange cover.
1215pm: Phone garage and learn that car will cost £150 to repair... hmmmph.
12-6pm: Regular work day filled with orders, coffees, chats and smiles.
605pm: Body starts to unwind... not good...
610pm: Hot chocolate and biscuit plus ten minute sit down.
620pm: Refreshed and revived for some serious closing down procedures.
850/ 9pm: Leave work after a near on 15 hour shift.
905pm: In bath, resting weary legs and body.
930pm: Order pizza whilst checking email.
1005pm: Pizza arrives.
Now: Pizza, House, aches and pains and a huge smile on my face... I did bloody well today! :)
Work.
